Donald Shambroom
Donald Shambroom is a visual artist and writer whose work is in the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. In 1973, after graduating from Yale University where he studied philosophy and painting, Shambroom moved to Boston to pursue his career as a painter. His work has been shown at Francis Naumann gallery and Half Gallery in New York, and at Mercury Gallery and Howard Yezerski Gallery in Boston.
For the past decade, he has lived and worked on the banks of the Millers River in north central Massachusetts. His fascination with the mind of Marcel Duchamp, and its intersection with the writings and thoughts of Leonardo da Vinci, has guided his painting, and generated roughly five thousand 5 X 8 inch note cards that periodically take over his studio. Shambroom’s book "Duchamp's Last Day" was published by Zwirner Books in 2018.* He is currently completing his next book "Mirror Image: Leonardo da Vinci and Marcel Duchamp.”
